If you have been procrastinating on filing for US citizenship or other immigration petitions, note that US Citizenship & Immigration Services (US CIS) fees are set to increase on December 23, 2016. The new fee schedule is available here. US CIS is funded almost entirely by its filing fees, and the last fee hike was in November 2010. Applications and petitions postmarked or filed on or after December 23, 2016, must include these new fees or USCIS will reject the filing.
The government filing fee costs for filing an N-400 to become a US Citizen will increase to $725, an I-485 to adjust status as a permanent resident will increase to $1225, and most waiver applications will increase to between $630-930. Some low-income applicants for US citizenship may request a reduced filing fee of $405. For eligibility and instructions for this low-income fee, see Form I-942, Request for Reduced Fee and Form N-400, Application for Naturalization.
