With her father being an immigrant from Nicaragua, Joan Mayorga knows what it’s like dealing with issues around immigration. While her father was in medical school, the family moved around, living in Miami, Florida; Houston, Texas; Puerto Rico; and other areas. Later, she was back in Miami and earned her associate degree in history at Miami Dade Community College.
In 2012, Joan moved to Atlanta and began working as a court reporter. It was a great way to learn about the law, and she soon switched gears and started working with a personal injury attorney. “I wanted to help people,” she says, “and that seemed like a good place to start.”
Joan joined the Antonini & Cohen team in November 2019 and works with prospective clients to ensure they get the legal support they need. “Every day is busy,” she says, “and I love what I do.”
When she’s not helping clients at the office, Joan is out and about. Whether it’s hiking around Georgia or hanging out with friends at the symphony, the High Art Museum, or a local art show, Joan is enjoying all that Atlanta has to offer. Joan has also found some favorite restaurants around the city, including Pho 24 and Two Urban Licks on the Beltline. She’s still looking for a great Nicaraguan restaurant, though!
