Antonini & Cohen Lawyers Attend, Lead Sessions at Local Immigration Law Conference

Last month, the attorneys of Antonini & Cohen attended the 2018 American Immigration Lawyers Association Georgia-Alabama Chapter (AILA GA-AL) Conference. This professional association is for attorneys who practice and teach immigration law, including more than 500 immigration attorneys in the Georgia-Alabama Chapter. The Annual Conference offers workshops and panels to help immigration attorneys sharpen their skills and stay up-to-date on recent developments in the law.

In addition to attending the conference, several Antonini & Cohen attorneys were also invited to speak as panelists:

  1. Attorney Carolina Antonini taught attorneys about complex green card cases involving arriving aliens and paroled individuals. On her panel, “Things Every Immigration Lawyer Needs to Know,” Mrs. Antonini discussed recent legal changes that provide avenues for adjustment of status – even for some individuals with deportation orders.

  2. Attorney Kathleen Hoyos presented an overview of the I-864 financial sponsorship and co-sponsorship process. She also shared tips for immigration lawyers whose clients may need to find other means of sponsorship.

Attorneys Nisha Karnani and Marshall Cohen were also invited as featured panelists to highlight their expertise in employment immigration issues:

Mrs. Karnani discussed best practices in employment-based cases given recent policy and administrative changes. She offered advice on how employers can sponsor their employees who are worried about the expiration of TPS and DACA.

Mr. Cohen led a panel, “Proving Extraordinary Ability is Extraordinarily Challenging,” which covered EB1 (extraordinary ability green card) case assessment and preparation. Mr. Cohen’s was recently interviewed and featured for his EB1 expertise, particularly for world-ranked track and field athletes, in this New York Times article: “Did Melania Trump Merit an ‘Einstein Visa’? Probably, Immigration Lawyers Say.”

The attorneys of Antonini & Cohen look forward to continuing to share their knowledge and expertise with their colleagues as well as their clients. Please reach out to us at 404-523-8141 to schedule your consultation. We look forward to helping you!
