The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has officially begun processing refunds for the $580 filing fee associated with the vacated Keeping Families Together (KFT) Parole in Place Program. This process, which started on January 6, 2025, is expected to continue over the next 5-6 weeks. Individuals affected by the court order should take note of the following details.
USCIS has indicated that notices will appear in the applicants' MyUSCIS accounts, informing them that their cases have been administratively closed due to the court order. These notices will also confirm that refunds are being issued.
Refunds will be processed based on the payment method used at the time of filing. For those who paid the fee by credit card, refunds will be issued directly to the card within 1-2 weeks. For applicants who used a debit card, refunds will be issued by check through U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). This process may take 5-6 weeks due to limitations on the number of checks ICE can issue each week.
If applicants have not received their refunds within 90 days of the start of the refund process, they are advised to contact the USCIS Contact Center to initiate an inquiry.
